This narrative of ‘Mother Queens and Father Warriors’ is all about pride. What most folks don’t seem to comprehend is we don’t need the fairy tales to feel pride. Just stop accepting the baggage that white supremacy heaps on us. We are beautiful, we are strong, we had history and culture before the slave trade. We don’t need to make shit up to feel good about ourselves. Anyone who insists that the original Africans were superhuman 100% heterosexuals is buying into the slave mindset that our oppressors have carefully crafted. They don’t get it, they don’t seem to understand that they are preaching the oppressors’ gospel of division. Futhermore, anyone who insists that homosexuality was brought to the shores of the African continent by white men doesn’t fully understand the nature of biology and thereby shows their ignorance.
