Seeing a lot of str8 people not understand their privilege
In regards to Frank Oceans bisexuality hoopla
“I don’t care that he’s str8 gay or bi he makes good music and that’s the only thing that matters”
Oh naive lil str8 folk it matters for black and brown queer youth. It matters in a fucking major way that someone as successful as he would even speak about falling in love with a man is A BIG FUCKING DEAL especially for a community that has the highest rates of suicide and homelessness because theyre black + queer. Two things that shouldnt go together in societies eyes…
I would rather str8 people say they won’t listen to him then completely silence and avoid the topic of his sexuality and how that plays into the music he has written or will soon write. No one ever says Jay Z’s sexuality doesn’t matter And that’s because we already assume he is str8.
Fucking str8 people want good music without the complications of a human beingWow
He’s bisexual. but it doesn’t define him. He is a musician, a son, a friend, a black mam, a man, a black person. am in no position to judge him. Heaven knows my ‘closet’ may be hiding a lot more. at least he cleared his out. when I say ’his a good musician’, am saying music was my introduction to him. Him being bisexual has no bearing on that for me. has no bearing on anything he does as far as am concerned. It doesn’t make him any less human, in fact it makes him more of a human as he has shown great courage to tell a very judgmental world “This is who I’am”. He is. it’s who he is. it’s a facet we get to share cos he let us. and dat’s all it is. he is an individual. individuals do thinks we may or may not agree with. but we’ll respect it because we want same respect. that’s how I see it.
